Grabit is a newsgroup client that allows you to search through the servers. If you are a newsgroup regular, you probably have wasted time and energy in downloading headers off the newsgroups just to see if what you were looking for was there. Or maybe, you are smart and you tried search engines on-line. Either way, Grabit manages to make things easier for you. This application combines a search engine and a downloader or retriever. You can connect to your newsgroup server and search for content from within the application. Once you found that file you were looking for (try to keep it legal, Big Brother is watching you), the application will grab it, see? Grab, it. After the file is downloaded, Grabit will automatically repair and extract the contents of the files. Most files downloaded off newsgroups need to be repaired, the reasons why go beyond my understanding, but hey, don't need to know how it works, just need to have it work. All in all, this is a nice, complete application that can help you to take full advantage of the newsgroups and their vast amount of data. |
